Interdisciplinary refers to the combination of two or more academic disciplines into one.

Today, we have so many social problems that their solution is not possible in one discipline, therefore, the interaction between different disciplines is needed to solve this problem. This interaction between two or more disciplines is called an interdisciplinary approach. Through an interdisciplinary approach, students can make connections between disciplines in education and see the correlations which improve overall learning. The students also receive a more relevant, timely, less fragmented and enriching learning experience.

Education is a process of human development as well as an independent field of study or discipline. Most of the content of education is the result of an interdisciplinary approach. Some fundamental questions related to education can be best answered by other disciplines.

The question, why to teach, can be answered by a philosopher. Philosophy deals with the reality of life as well ideals of life. The importance of philosophy is evident from the fact that in research the highest degree given is PhD (Doctorate of Philosophy). In it, the researcher uses his thinking skills and finds out the truth in the end by using different methods and concepts. Philosophy verifies the findings and criticizes the results of research. Thus, Philosophy is the mother of all sciences.

The question- how to teach, is related to the practical side of education. The psychology and pedagogy can answer this question and provide methods and techniques of teaching. Psychology is an important part of the research. It helps in finding the results of research using measurement and statistics of psychology.

The question of what to teach is related to the content of education and it can be answered by the combined study of philosophy and sociology.

An Interdisciplinary Approach two or more disciplines are used to solve any educational problem- for example- educational philosophy, educational psychology, and educational sociology, etc. The interdisciplinary approach combines the expertise of two or more disciplines to jointly address an area of common concern. It improves the results of research; increases the mental efficiency of students; minimizes subjectivity and departmental bias; supports and gives new opportunities for further research; helps to think critically and helps in connecting ideas.
